Polk County Sheriff Bob Wolfe announced Friday that he has filed for re-election.
Sheriff Wolfe stated “I remain dedicated and committed to the mission of the Sheriff’s Office to demonstrate leadership in our community by providing effective law enforcement services in which we promote, preserve and deliver safety, security, and enhanced livability to those we serve.”
As Polk County puts a Public Safety Levy on the November ballot, Sheriff Bob Wolfe said he is optimistic the levy will be passed by the voters. The Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office have seen significant staff reductions over the past five years due to the loss of 2.4 million dollars in O & C Timber monies.
According to Sheriff Wolfe, “We are operating at minimum staffing, making it difficult for our dedicated employees to provide prompt and effective law enforcement services. I look forward to continuing my service to the citizens of Polk County as the Sheriff and in restoring the sheriff’s office to full service.”
