Portland Police Arrest Suspect in July Shooting in the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood – Victim Now Wanted by Police‏

Early this morning, Wednesday August 22, 2012, Portland Police officers arrested 21-year-old Joseph Smith in connection with a July 2012 shooting in Southeast Portland.

Investigators believe that Smith shot the victim in the leg at a residence in the 7500 block of Southeast 69th Avenue on Friday July 20, 2012.

Smith was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree and Robbery in the First Degree.

Detectives would like the public’s help in locating the shooting victim, who currently has a parole violation warrant for his arrest.

The victim in the shooting, 37-year-old Sean Joseph Cook, is described as a Native American male, 6’2″ tall, 220 pounds, brown eyes, and black hair. Cook is on parole for a drug-related crime.
